Answer :

The poet is curious about many things around him. He is curious about the color of the grass. He wants to know why one cannot see the wind and who taught the birds to build their nests. He wonders why the trees take rest.

2. Why do you think the speaker calls the cloud fluffy ?

Answer :

The cloud moves away slowly by evaporating so it appears to be fluffy.

3. Does the wind have any colour ?

Answer :

No, the wind doesn't have any colour.

4. Do you often ask your father about the things that you wonder at ? Does he answer your questions ? If he doesn't, what do you do to satisfy your curiosity ?

Answer :

Yes, I often ask my father about the things that I wonder at. He does answer my questions by giving examples.

Answer :

The poet is amazed by many things around him. The poet wants to know why the color of the grass is green and why the wind is never seen. The poet wonders that who taught the birds to build their nests. The poet wonders why the missing bit of moon is gone. He also wants to know about the origin of the lights of stars and lighting. He is curious to know that who colors the rainbow and who hangs cloud so high.

2. Who do you think is the 'I' in the poem - a child or an adult ? Give reasons for answer.

Answer :

“I” in the poem is definitely a child. An adult already knows facts about the things around him. It is a child’s curiosity that makes him wonder at the things around him and this is why he questions such things.

3. What opinion do you form about the speaker ?

Answer :

The speaker is quite curious and wants to know many things. He is full of questions.

4. What does the question in the end suggest about the speaker's attitude towards his dad ?

Answer :

He is doubtful that his father would answer all his questions.

C.1. Phrasal Verb

C.1.1. What does the phrasal verb 'blow out' mean in the poem ? Look up a dictionary and list its meaning. Note down other meanings of the phrasal verb and use it in your own sentences conveying other meanings,

Answer :

'Blow out' in the poem means 'to extinguish' of to 'put of fire'. Blow Out : The fire was blown out by the strong wind. Some other meanings of the phrasal verb conveyed in sentences.

Blow out (to lose force) the fire blew itself out. Blow out (to defeat someone easily) : One can't blow out my courage. Blow out (flame put off my wind) : The candle blew out as he opened the window.

C.1.2. Look up a dictionary and list other phrasal verbs that begin with blow, and use them in your own sentences.

Blow out (to come out with force) : with the explosion, the high flames blew out from the gas go down/building.

To blow upon (to speak ill off) : It is bad to blow upon your friends.
