King told that he had a strange dream last night. In his dream, he and Gopal were going for a walk and reached a place where there were two pools. One of the pools was filled with kheer made of rich thick milk and the other full of horribly smelly dung. He fell in the pool of kheer and Gopal fell in the pool of rotting muck.

3. What did Gopal say on hearing the king's dream ?

Answer :

Gopal said that he had exactly the same dream. He said that Raja’s dream had finished earlier while his dream continued for a while. He said that he saw both of them coming out of the pools, where he was covered with muck and the king was covered with the kheer. Both of them were licking each other in order to clean each other.

4. Sketch the character of Gopal, the jester.

Answer :

The jester, Gopal was a man with high wit. He loved to make everyone appear fool by his jokes. Those who tried to make fun of him were ultimately being fooled themselves. Even the king couldn’t outwit him. Gopal was a smart man who possessed great wit.

5. Can you guess the king's feeling at Gopal's reply ? What would you do if someone replied you in that manner ?

Answer :

The king was surprised at how Gopal replied. It was completely unexpected. He wanted to fool Gopal but instead he got himself fooled.

I would have felt bad if someone replied me that manner.

There's no life without humour. It can make the wonderful moments of life truly glorious, and it can make tragic moments bearable. Humour has the power to grab the attention of people from all walks of life and helps in establishing connection with them.

Humour is the key to every soul. It is rightly said 'Laughter is the best medicine'. It reduces stress and like a welcomed summer rain, it cleanses and cools you. Laugh when you have a reason to laugh, laugh when you faced failures or difficult situations as humour is a medicine which has no side effects.

G. TRANSLATION

write a summary of the lesson and then translate it into HIndi/Urdu.

Answer :

The Raja's Dream Summary in English :-

Many stories are famous about the wit of jester, Gopal. This story is one of them. Raja Krishna Chandra had after heard from his courtiers that Gopal had made fool to all of them. The Raja decided to amuse himself by baiting Gopal.

Raja Krishna Chandra said to Gopal that he had a dream. In the dream both of them went for a walk. He fell into a pool of kheer while he fell into a pool of smejly dung.

All the courtiers laughed hearing to the king. Then, Gopal calmly said that he also had seen the same dream. The king's dream had finished earlier, while his dream continued. In his dream, he later saw that both of them came out of pools. Then, in order to clean each other both of them started licking each other. Hearing this, all the courtiers were stunned and choked. There was complete silence in the court. But, that day the king was in good mood. To all the courtier's surprise, the king laughed at Gopal's wit.

The Raja's Dream Summary in Hindi :-

मसखरे गोपाल के विषय में ढेरों कहानियाँ प्रचलित है। प्रस्तुत कहानी भी उन्हीं में से एक है। राजा कृष्णचन्द्र ने दरबारियों से सुन रखा था कि गोपाल ने सभी को कभी न कभी मूर्ख बनाया है। जब कभी उन्होंने गोपाल को मूर्ख बनाने की कोशिश की, उल्टे गोपाल ने ही उन्हें मूर्ख बना दिया। राजा ने एक दिन गोपाल का मजाक उड़ाकर मजा लेने की ठान ली। 

राजा कृष्णचन्द्र ने गोपाल से कहा कि पिछली रात उन्होंने एक सपना देखा। सपने में वे दोनों घूमने निकले। वे गिर पड़े एक खीर के तालाब में और गोपाल गिर पड़ा एक बदबूदार गोबर के तालाब में। 

राजा की बात सुनकर दरबार में उपस्थित सभी दरबारीगण ठठाकर हँस पड़े। तब गोपाल ने बिलकुल शांत रहते हुए कहा कि उसने भी ठीक वही सपना देखा था। फर्क यह है कि राजा का सपना जल्दी ही ख़त्म हो गया। जबकि उसका सपना आगे भी चलता रहा। आगे सपने में उसने देखा कि वे दोनों तालाब से निकले तो एक - दूसरे को साफ़ करने के क्रम में दोनों एक - दूसरे को चाटने लगे। 

यह सुनते ही जैसे कि तमाम दरबारियों को साँप सूंघ गया है। पूरे दरबार में सन्नटा छा गया। पर , राजा उस दिन अच्छी मिजाज में था। उसने गोपाल की छींटाकशी का बुरा नहीं माना। दरबारी आश्चर्य में पड़ गए जबकि राजा ने गोपाल की चतुराई की खूब तारीफ की। 

Hindi Translation of the Chapter - The Raja's Dream :-

Raja Krishna Chandra......................by baiting Gopal.

राजा कृष्णचन्द्र को उनके दरबारीगण हमेशा ही गोपाल के बारे में शिकायत किया करते थे। दरबारियों की शिकायत थी कि वह किसी को भी मूर्ख बनाता रहता था। प्रत्येक व्यक्ति का वह उपहास करता रहता था। राजा के दरबार में उपस्थित प्रत्येक दरबारी भी ऐसा नहीं था कि गोपाल की मजाक उड़ाने की कोशिश न की हो। लेकिन हर बार गोपाल के सामने उसी व्यक्ति को मूर्ख बन जाना पड़ता था जो गोपाल को मूर्ख बनाना चाहता था। राजा को दरबारियों ने इस विषय के बारे में बता रखा था। राजा को तो स्वयं भी बहुत बुरा लगता था कि बिना किसी प्रकार की भद्दी बात करे भी , गोपाल उसे मूर्ख बना दिया करता था। इसलिए एक दिन कृष्णचंद्र ने गोपाल को प्रलोभन देकर खुद को बहलाने का फैसला किया।

"Ah, Gopal.....................king's dream.

अगले दिन, जैसे ही राजा ने गोपाल को दरबार में देखा तो राजा ने गोपाल से कहा कि "आह, गोपाल, कल रात को मैंने एक विचित्र सपना देखा। और राजा का सपना सुनने के लिए सब चुप हो गए।

"I dreamt Gopal..................... rotting muck."

"गोपाल, मैंने सपने में देखा कि तुम और मैं कहीं घूमने जा रहे थे और हम एक ऐसे जगह पर पहुँचे जहाँ पर दो तलाबें थी। एक तालाब खीर से भरा हुआ था जो कि बहुत अच्छे दूध से बनाया गया था और दूसरी तालाब बदबूदार गोबर से भरी हुई थी। अचानक से मैं खीर वाले तालाब में गिर गया और तुम बदबूदार गोबर वाले तालाब में।"

ये सुनने के बाद सभी दरबारी ठहाके मार कर हँसने लगे। वे लोग तो इसी विचार से खुश हो गए कि वह मसखरा गोपाल सिर से पाँव तक मल - मूत्र से भरा हुआ था। 

"Gopal stood.................same dream."

गोपाल अविचलित खड़ा रहा, सभी की हँसी ख़त्म होने इंतज़ार किया। और राजा को बहुत ही विनम्रता से यह कहते हुए सभी को हैरान कर दिया कि उसने भी ठीक यही सपना देखा था। 

"The king..........happened in mine ?"

राजा गोपाल को प्रश्न भरी निगाहों से देखते हुए पुछा, तुम्हारा मतलब जो कुछ मेरे सपने में हुआ वही तुम्हारे सपने में भी हुआ ?

"Yes, Maharaj...............each other."

गोपाल ने कहा, "जी महाराज" बस आपका सपना थोड़ा जल्दी ख़त्म हो गया। और मेरा सपना कुछ ज्यादा समय तक चलता रहा। मैंने देखा कि हम दोनों तालाब से बाहर आ रहे थे। आप खीर से सने हुए थे और मैं मैं बदबूदार गोबर से और  फिर मैंने देखा कि हम दोनों एक दूसरे को चाट रहे थे ताकि हम दोनों खुद को साफ़ कर सके।

सभी दरबारी यह सुनकर लगभग चौंक गए। लेकिन दुर्भाग्य से, राजा उस दिन अच्छे मिजाज में थे और गोपाल द्वारा अपनी टांग खिंचाई की बात को बुरा नहीं माना। उल्टे वह गोपाल की चतुराईपूर्ण व्यव्हार से खुश होकर हँसने लगे।
