Change of Degree - Positive, Comparative, Superlative | English Grammar

 CHANGE OF DEGREE

The degrees of Adjective - Positive, Comparative and Superlative degree. The degrees can be changed in the following ways :

(a) If the word has consonant at the end , then we can change the Positive Degree to the Comparative Degree by adding er, and to the Superlative Degree by adding est to the word.

For example :-

(b) If the word has 'y' at the end, then' we add ier and iest to change the degree.

(c) If the word has 'e' at the end then we add only r and st.

(d) Sometimes the last consonant is doubled before adding er or est.

(e) By placing more and most before the adjective.
