The marriage of my elder brother was celebrated last week with great pomp and show. A grand procession (Barat) started from our house. I joined the procession.
My brother rode on a mare. He was wearing a beautiful crown on his head. A band was playing at the head of the procession. A party of singers and dancers was also there.
The procession reached the birde's house at 9 p.m. Her relatives gave us a warm reception. A big pandal was decorated there. A colourful gate was shining with flickering lights. The bride came out to put garland around the neck of the bridegroom. A long ribbon was fastened between two poles. The bridegroom cut the ribbon with a scissors. Then he entered the pandal. The other members of the marriage party followed him. We sat on the chairs meant for us. First we were served with cold drinks. Various dishes were served to us. We did full juice to them.
