Summary
A mother bird and her two new born babies lived in a forest. Their nest was in a tall shady tree. The mother bird took care of the baby birds. One day, a stormy wind blew down the the tall tree. A heavy branch hit the nest. It killed the mother bird. The wind blew the baby birds away. One of them came down near a cave. A gang of robbers lived there. The other bird came down outside a rishi's ashram.
The baby birds became big birds after sometime. One day, a king came there. He was chasing a deer. He was dead tired. He got off his horse. He sat under a tree near the cave. The king was amazed when he heard a voice. It said take away the king's jewels and horse. The king saw a big, brown bird on the tree. He also heard faint noises coming from the cave. He rode away very fast.
Then the king reached near the rishi's ashram. He tied his horse to a tree. He sat down in its shade. He heard a voice. It welcomed him to the ashram. The king saw a big brown bird in the tree. This bird looked just like the other bird outside the cave.
The bird told the king that the other bird was his brother. He had made friends with robbers and talked like them. The rishi came there just then. He invited the king into his ashram to rest and share his food. The king told the rishi about difference in behaviour of the two birds.
The rishi said that it was the result of their company.
