Saeeda's mother was suffering from fever, cough, body - ache, painful joints and other ailments. She received treatment from various physicians. She only showed temporary improvement. She had become weak and pale. She was forbidden normal food and was deprived of fresh air and sunshine.
After sometime her condition became critical. She consulted a doctor. He prescribed her effective but costly medicines. He asked her to take simple and homely food. He also asked her to sit in the sun every morning for one hour. He told her that sunshine and fresh air are more effective than medicine.
The people who were present there passed different comments on the doctor's prescription. Saeeda's mother could not argue with them. She was determined to follow the doctor's advice. She got her bed moved to a room with sunshine. Unluckily, it remained cloudy for two days. Saeeda's mother got dejected.
She wondered how she would get well without sunshine. Saeeda heard her mother. She looked at the sky. There was only one ray of the departing sun. She prayed to it, "Dear sister, please do come tomorrow. My mother is ill and she needs your help." The sun's ray promised to come the next day at the fixed hour.
Next day the rays were eager to come to the earth. But the sun said to them, "You cannot go today. Dirty clouds have blocked your way." But the ray of the light said, "I have promised the little girl. I must go to help her mother." So the little rays pierced through the dark clouds. The clouds were defeated. They scattered.
Saeeda's mother and her charpoy placed in the sun. She got warmth and fresh air. She began to feel better and better everyday.
