Diwali is an important festival of the Hindus. It falls on the Amavas of lunar month of Ashwin. It is celebrated all over India. It marks the memory of the return of Rama to Ayodha.
On the Diwali day the people buy sweets and fruits. They send gifts to friends and relatives. At night the people light earthen lamps and candles. The electric bulbs of different colours add to the beauty of the night. Everybody is in a mood. Most people worship Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth.
