The 26th of January is a red-letter day in history of India, it is called Republic Day. It is a sacred day for all of us. It is celebrated with a great pomp and show.
The day is a public holiday. The whole of India goes gay on this day. In Delhi this day is celebrated with the greatest zeal.
The President of India arrives in a beautiful coach at 8:30 a.m. The procession starts from the Rashtrapati Bhawan. The Jawans of Indian Army, Navy and Air Force march at the head. They are followed by heavy tanks, machine-guns and other military equipments. Each State of India is represented in cultural pageant.
Folk dancers sing and dance. The procession passes through the main bazaars. It ends at the Red Fort.
The President furls The National Flag and takes the solute from the military civil forces. One day before i.e. on the night of 25th January the President addresses the whole nation on T.V.
