Surgical Strike
Surgical Strike |
For over several years, terrorists from across the border have been coming secretly into Indian territory and causing destruction to civil and military installations. India has been warning Pakistan against such activities but in vain. Recently there was an attack on the Indian Airbase Pathankot. Then there was a attack at Uri in which 18 Indian jawans were killed. That was the last straw. Ten days after the Uri attack, the Indian Army carried out a surgical strike to destroy terrorist camps in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. A surgical strike is a controlled military operation to achieve limited goal. It needs detailed planning, precision and absolute secrecy. It began at midnight. Paratroopers from special force were involved. The commandos were air dropped across the Line of Control from where they crossed into the territory of Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Seven terrorists launch pads were destroyed. Thirty eight terrorists and two Pakistani soldiers were killed.
The operation was a complete success as there was no loss of life on the Indian side.
