Biotic Resources - The living resources are called biotic resources. These are obtained from Biosphere. Such as flora and fauna, fisheries, livestock, etc.
Abiotic Resources - Non-living resources are called abiotic resources. For example rocks and metals.

(i) Explain land use pattern in India and why has the land under forest not increased much since 1960-61 ?
Answer:
Resources And Development
Forest Area - The land under forests has not increased much from 1960-61. This is due to reckless deforestation. Due to increase in population, the forests have been cleared for cultivation.

(ii) How have the technical and economic development led to more - consumtion of Resources ?
Answer:
Resources should be availbale for development. Dur to absence of technology many resource regions remain backward.
Reasons :
  • Technology is used to exploit resources in India. The consumption of resource is increasing due to use of technology and quality of human resources.
  • With the use of technology, humans interact with nature and create institutions to increase the consumption of resources to increase the economic development.
  • Human made resource, like house, buildings, roads, industries need more consumption of resources.
